About This Conference

  • How prepared are you to handle an anthrax attack? Could you cope with a dirty bomb or a devastating natural disaster?
  • How would your hospitals and emergency services work together?
  • Do you have a healthcare emergency preparedness program in place to effectively respond to a manmade or natural disaster and protect your community?

If you are not prepared for any of the above - or don't have tested response procedures - you must act now...

A Healthcare Emergency Response Coalition (HERC) is a network of representatives from hospitals and county emergency response agencies within an area or county who jointly plan for an area-wide health or medical response to disasters. At the Building an Effective Healthcare Emergency Response Coalition Conference, you will learn how to improve healthcare emergency preparedness and response capabilities by building a system in which a coalition of emergency response partners is better able to serve and protect your residents and community. In addition, you will learn the importance of working within your coalition to develop a series of hospital protocols on preparing for and responding to any mass casualty incident.

This conference will be taught through plenary sessions, networking opportunities and your choice of breakout sessions. The breakout sessions will cover:

  • Effective interoperability
  • Shared protocols and protocol development
  • Joint Training and Exercises
  • Common Communications
  • Mass Fatality Management
  • Sustainable Funding
  • Bioreadiness training for health professionals
  • Specifics of the new Hospital Incident Command System (HICS4) requirements
  • Disaster behavioral health awareness for healthcare professionals
