Denzil D. Thies Denzil, a native of Nebraska, retired as a Captain in the U. S. Navy after more than 27 years of service. During his Navy career, Denzil served at numerous duty stations throughout the world including several assignments in aviation as a Naval Flight Officer that culminated in Command of an Aviation Squadron. Other assignments of interest include a mixture of senior military staff duties and finally as Professor of Naval Science and Naval Science Department Chair at the University of Rochester. During military staff duties, Denzil made significant contributions to IT requirements generation and IT modernization. Following military retirement, Denzil spent several years in the financial services industry as a Financial Planner before rejoining the U.S. Navy as a government civilian. Denzil has been involved in the development of a Capital Planning and Investment Control process for the U.S. Navy since June 2006 and currently heads up the Portfolio Management Branch in Chief of Naval Operations office for Communication Networks. Denzil received his undergraduate degree in Mathematics from the University of Nebraska, Kearney and has earned three Masters degrees including an MBA from Boston University.
