Dr. Grady Bray is the President and CEO of Bray Associates, a consulting, training and disaster response company established in 1984. He has an international reputation for his expertise in family assistance, critical incident stress, school crisis response and corporate disaster psychology. He is an accomplished lecturer and author.


In addition to his role with Bray Associates, Dr. Bray established the Family Assistance and Training program for Kenyon International Emergency Services where he served as Vice President from 2000 to 2006. During this period he responded to and/or served in a leadership role for many of the major world disasters, including the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, the Boxing Day Tsunami in Thailand, Hurricane Katrina and the Helios Airways crash in Athens, Greece.


After receiving his BA and M.ED he worked as a pyrotechnics chemist, a high school teacher and program administrator for vocational education.

Dr. Bray received his Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Georgia in August of 1974 and went to work as a clinical psychologist with the Georgia Department of Human Resources. He was promoted to Director of Psychological Services within the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation and finally served as the Division’s Research Director.

In response to an invitation from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, New York, Dr. Bray joined the faculty as an Assistant Professor of Preventive, Family and Rehabilitation Medicine in 1977 and remained with the medical school until 1984. During this time he also received his certification as a Sex Therapist and Trainer for Sex Therapists. Dr. Bray also served as the Coroner for Yates County, NY.

He is an adjunct and frequent presenter for the federal government’s Emergency Management Institute. He worked the Oklahoma City bombing, major natural disasters and numerous air disasters. He has worked with corporations, the Department of Homeland Security, state and local governments on hazard mitigation, disaster preparedness, emergency plan development, drills, exercises and comprehensive response. Dr. Bray has also provided assessment and training for the Executive Office of the President of the United States as well as international response teams for private corporations and foreign governments.
