CSM Larry K. (Ken) Fisher retired from the U. S. Army in September 2001 following a 25 year career. His final assignment was as the Command Sergeant Major of the 3d Chemical Brigade located at Ft. Leonard Wood Mo. Throughout his military career he served in various units such as the 82nd Airborne Division, 101st Airborne Division, 3d Armored Division, 5th Special Forces Group, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment and the United States Chemical Activity Pacific at Johnston Island.


Following his retirement from the Army, Mr. Fisher was an Area Supervisor for the Pine Bluff Chemical Demilitarization Facility at Pine Bluff Arkansas. In September 2005 Mr. Fisher was hired by General Physics Corporation to assist in the response to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans Louisiana. There he became the Project Manager for General Physics, the Emergency Operations Center Manager and one of the Deputy Incident Commanders for the disaster. He led a team of 30 Emergency Preparedness specialists who were assigned the duties of staff augmentation to the New Orleans Office of Emergency Preparedness.


At the end of the project in December 2006, Mr. Fisher remained in New Orleans as an employee of the Office of Emergency Preparedness as the City’s first full time Operations Section Chief. His duties include management of the Operations Support Group during EOC activations as well as the overall management of the City’s EOC. Most recently Mr. Fisher’s focus has been on the Physical Security Plan of City Hall, the City Assisted Evacuation Plan, and Alert Notifications to the residents of New Orleans with particular attention to those citizens with disabilities.
