Mark E. Gebhart, MD, EMT-P, FAAEM, CPM

Dr. Gebhart is a board certified specialist in emergency medicine and diplomat of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He serves as director and co-founder of The Homeland Emergency Learning and Preparedness Center at Wright State University’s Boonshoft School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio and holds the rank of assistant professor of emergency medicine in the Department of Emergency Medicine. Dr. Gebhart is the concentration director of the emergency preparedness track of the Master’s in Public Health graduate program. Dr. Gebhart retired with the rank of Deputy Chief from the City of Kettering Fire Department and remains a certified firefighter, paramedic, and rescue medical specialist. Dr. Gebhart is a member of an urban search and rescue team. He is nationally certified as an urban search and rescue (USAR) task force leader. He is a nationally certified instructor in FEMA’s medical specialist training program. Dr. Gebhart has deployed nationally to notable disasters including Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Research interests include mass gathering medical care, mass casualty care, medical readiness, incident management applications, critical care medicine in confined spaces, public health aspects of disaster response, healthcare policy, catastrophe and the implications on poverty and healthcare management.
