Peter Teahen, a licensed funeral director, has years of professional, community, and volunteer experience, ranging from his ownership of Teahen Funeral Home to pioneering community projects, lecturing, developing mental health crisis management intervention programs, and lending his skills to both the development of disaster operation protocols, as well as, extensive volunteerism in disaster services.

 

In 2000, Mr. Teahen founded the International Mass Fatalities Centere which assists governments, communities, first responders, community response agencies and non-governmental organizations in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from disasters. IMFC's programs utilize active learning through lecture, participatory group exercises, case studies, role-play, and focused discussion.

 

In 2005 he also founded AmericaReady, a non-profit corporation that provides United States Public Health, military and Homeland Security agencies with consultation services and training that utilizes an integrated program of desktop drills, assessments, registry and credentialing services, secure information sharing and alert communications services.

 

He is extremely active with the American Red Cross, humanitarian projects such as in Darfur and Indonesia and his very active in the community.  He has appeared on television news programs on behalf of the American Red Cross and has authored several articles and manuals on mass fatalities.  He also is a recipient of numerous awards of distinction including the National Public Spirit Award. from the American Legion Auxiliary.
